An article by Jeff Beneke on popular mechanics (link below) have tackled on how to make a simple circular saw guides. According to him he made this simple guides to help him build his divider unit in his new home, and the guides were easily stored and are compact.
He shares two guides, one is for long pieces (long guide) and a shorter guide for cross cutting boards.
